Got Affinity, goodbye Adobe

July 27, 2024

(Disclaimer: I’m in no way writing this on behest of any company.)

For my birthday, I asked for Affinity and got it! πŸ‘©β€πŸ’» The programs offered were bundled and on sale. There’s no subscription and you can install it on any device you have. I never actually needed Adobe for anything professional, so I always just sailed the 7 seas lol. And I’m glad in retrospect that I didn’t get caught up in their ransomware plot. There are alternatives out there. You can try Affinity for 6 months for free too.

So far, Affinity Photo 2 is all I really need though. A lot of things are similar to Photoshop, but then many things aren’t or are in different settings and locations. It definitely takes a little time to learn. So far, the only thing I’m bummed out about it that it has no ability to make gifs. Although, there are other options for that, I guess. I haven’t checked, but I’m guessing that Photoshop also has more features and whatnot due to it being out for so much longer. For my purposes, though, Affinity runs faster and gets the job done just as good.

I made a few stamps today with it. 🫢

Making gifs again using ScreenToGif, which is free and open source!

And in related news, my messy digital garden is up. πŸͺ΄ I guess that’s where I’ll post more stamps and gifs? I don’t know what to do anymore lol There’s so much I want to do to my blog here, but it also feels good having a separate place for certain things.
