Random work stuff and Wakanda Forever

November 22, 2022

Japan’s joined the rest of the word in implementing let-it-rip covid countermeasures, so it’s back to the office just to use the internet for good.πŸ™„ It’s just baffling to me, the act of traveling somewhere to use the internet and spending the entire waking day there. It’s mentally draining after getting a taste of how unnecessary it is… The same amount of work would get done at home on a vastly faster computer, but here we are. Still, I’m lucky enough to be able to pretty much take off whenever, which really isn’t too common out here. “Something something, good with the bad.”πŸ‘πŸ‘„πŸ‘

Also not done ranting. Because of all the wasted time commuting, I haven’t been really cooking these days. I just get takeout or literally microwave potatoes and fix up something as fast as humanly possible since I’m tired. All the gold stars to people with kids because my god.😱 This Wednesday is a holiday, and I’m thinking of making some decent chicken curry though.⬇

All right, now I’m done ranting.πŸ˜—

Black Panther Wakanda Forever came out on Friday, Nov 11, so I went to see it that night. The movie was really good, as expected. There were a couple scenes where you could hear a pin drop. The tributes to Chadwick were really well done. Amazing costumes, amazing music, and the fight scenes were great. I just wish the movie had a bit more M’Baku.🀧

As someone who isn’t into Marvel at all, it didn’t feel like a superhero movie even with the suits and all that. It had a more serious, slow-paced burn and above average acting. So whenever someone would mention “Hulk” or “Thanos,” it felt weird to me. The villain Namor totally made sense. Again, not into the comics, but the fact that they kept those little wings on his feet made me happy! I love when movies just go for it.

The soundtrack and original score are also fire?πŸ”₯

The soundtrack introduced me to a South African genre called Amapiano, which is sooort of a type of house music. A lot of the songs are 7 minutes long, totally going against trend of 2 min songs places like Tik Tok and Spotify are cultivating.

Amapiano kind of sounds like this⬇

Kamo Mphela is so cool. I listen to this song daily nowπŸ’ž

Oh, and with Twitter dying, I’ve been looking to try out different social media platforms. Mastodon is too convoluted and fragmented. I liked the idea of Cohost but it just looks very dated and is a bit too similar to Tumblr. Post.news isn’t ready yet but seems promising? for other reasons. Hive Social is the closest thing I’ve seen, but the team working on it is extremely small and it’s mobile only so far. We’ll see what rises to the top later, I guess!πŸ‘‹
