2022 year-end plans

November 10, 2022 , ,

In the midst of constant covid mutations and Japan about to enter wave 8, I’m hoping to somehow continue to avoid catching Ms. Rona for my trip back to the US in December. It’s been FIVE years. ๐Ÿ™€

A few weeks ago while on the phone my mom, I just decided to commit. There happened to be relatively cheap flights directly through American Airlines too. Couldn’t pass that up, especially with how expensive end-of-year travel can get. The only bad news is that the trip mysteriously coincides with the yen losing a metric ton of its worth for the first time in over 30 years or something. Of course. ๐Ÿ’ธ

WOW, JUST IN TIME

But the main reason I’m heading back is to help out rather than purely for vacation. Long story short, the family back in Florida has had enough of living the American Dreamโ„ข and they’re moving back to the Caribbean.

At first, I was pretty shocked to hear this, but it seems to be what they all want, and it does make sense… And apparently Anguilla (the island they’re going back to) has developed quite a bit over the years.

Due to certain circumstances, there isn’t a whole lot that my family can get done physically, so I’ll need to help with decluttering and whatnot. But wow, there’s less than 2 months to go! Honestly, I’m just excited to see everyone after FIVE years…and to get African and Caribbean food. ๐Ÿ˜„

Wondering what to bring back to Japan besides lots of peanut butter chocolate snacks. Kind of eyeing an air fryer, acrylic nail system, and even perfume. Imaginary Authors – Whiff of Waffle Cone has been on my wishlist for a couple years, and it’s only $65! Although, they do ship to Japan.

NOTES:
Vanilla, Heavy Cream, Salted Caramel, Amyris, Orgeat, Saigon Cinnamon, Ice Cream Shoppe

“Imaginary Authors”

Can never have enough vanilla perfumes. ๐Ÿ˜Š

In terms of what to get the family, I was thinking…

  • Colorful/pastel masks (don’t think they have access to the tones/shades we have here)
  • Senbei, weird kit kats, other Japanese candy
  • Foldable fans or uchiwa
  • Fancy pens

Welcoming any other suggestions!

I also got a new phone, so I’ll try to take a ton of pictures. It’s so good that I don’t think I need my mirrorless camera anymore (which I never carry around with me anyway).

That’s all for this post. I want to post at least one a week. Getting into the swing of things slowly but surely. โœจ

I hope you enjoy your trip to Florida! Five years away sounds like such a long time and I’m sure it’ll be great to see family again ๐Ÿ™‚

Maybe you can also bring them cute house gadgets/cute tech? I’m not sure haha maybe some of those powder soup bases? Definitely fun candies!

Also wow the Pixel 7 has a really great camera! I’ve been thinking of upgrading but I think I’ll just wait until my iPhone 12 dies to change systems.

Thank you for letting me know about the comment ^^
Powder soup bases would be a nice affordable option!

Definitely smart to keep using your phone if it still works, but do consider joining the resistance in the future๐Ÿ˜„Pixels are (probably) going to keep getting better and better ๐ŸคŒ

i missed blog posts!! reading this was a flashback, it’s great.

okay, that out of the way. i don’t blame you family for wanting to leave the US ๐Ÿ˜’ i would always end up going to a knick-knack shop in korea and getting little trinkets like fruit forks with smiley faces cut out of the handle, or mystery boxes of animals as business men type of things…on top of the usual snacks, snacks and more snacks.

Right? It felt nostalgic getting photos ready and writing up drafts๐Ÿ˜‚

Yeah, I think snacks are definitely going to be the best bet for the most part to avoid adding more clutter. ^^ A couple cutesy trinkets are a must tho! Forks and whatnot is a good idea.
